| Activity: Vocabulary Walk |
| |
 |
Let's Get Started: 1. Take the children on a walking field trip around the neighborhood.
2. Ask the children to keep their eyes open and point to things that they are not familiar with in the neighborhood or they don’t know what it is called by name (for example, many children might not be familiar with the term ‘restaurant.’)
3. When a child finds something unfamiliar, ask if anyone else knows what it might be called.
4. If no one knows, then tell the children what it is and have them repeat the word. |
| If using POCET, this Activity correlates to Developmental Guideline: LG 3 Understands More Complex Vocabulary and Displays Listening Comprehension. |
