Activity: Engaging Library Center
Having an extensive classroom library is an engaging way to help develop emerging literacy skills.

Goal: To show interest in reading-related activities

Let's Get Started:
1. Provide children a classroom environment with a library center of some kind in which a wide quantity and variety of books are available for children to access.

2. Review the books in the library center often, leaving books that are still engaging children on a daily basis in the center for an additional period of time.

3. Books that are not picked up regularly should be rotated out for a rest in order to keep the library center an engaging place that entices the children to visit it routinely.

If using POCET, this Activity correlates to Developmental Guideline: LT 7 Shows Interest in Reading-Related Activities.
