Activity: Creating Sentences
Materials Needed:
Magnetic alphabet letters
Magnetic board large enough to create short sentences with letters
Sample words (optional)
Let’s Get Started:
1. As the kindergarten child begins to experiment with words during the early reading process, allow her to begin to create words and sentences.
2. Using a generous amount of magnetic letters and a magnetic board, allow the child to construct simple words and sentences.
3. During this activity, stress forming words and sentences from left to right.
OPTIONAL: For children just beginning to create words, the teacher may want to place some word cards as models for the child.
