Toddlers usually love music and are beginning to feel rhythms and understand that they can also create a type of music with simple instruments and singing. Children this age also love to begin to participate in messy-type play, such as painting or molding dough. These types of activities help the child begin to develop thinking and organization skills, as well as enhancing his ability to be creative.

 
Music and Movement
Can use rhythm instruments during a song.
The child begins to use simple rhythm instruments, such as a drum or sticks, to imitate the beat of a familiar song. (EC8)

    Explores drawing, painting, and modeling with different materials.
    The child begins to create projects using crayons, pencils, paint, modeling dough and other messy materials. (EC10)
