Activity: Nursery Rhymes
Let's Get Started:
1. From toddler years through preschool, nursery rhymes are a great way for children to begin building phonemic awareness.

2. It is not necessary to use an entire nursery rhyme to make it a useful experience.

3. For example, saying the first two lines of the nursery rhyme “One, two, Buckle my Shoe” is a great activity for a two year-old.
One, two, buckle my shoe,
Three, four, shut the door.

4. The rhyming words should always be emphasized.

This Activity correlates to Developmental Guideline: ER 10: Repeats Rhyming Words.
