Experience: Patty Cake
Let's Get Started:
1. A game of “Patty Cake” or a similar gesture game or song, is an excellent way to get infants to express happiness.

2. Once the child is engaging in visual contact and responding to voices (usually by 3-4 months), use the child’s hand to act out “Patty Cake.”

3. Using gentle movements, such as lightly clapping the child’s hand, will help the child physically feel the happiness of the moment.

This Experience correlates to Developmental Guideline: EL6: Expresses Happiness.
