| Experience: Respond to Smiling Attempts |
|
 |
Let's Get Started: 1. During the first few months of life, infants usually begin to respond with a smile when they feel happiness. This may be in response to someone talking directly to the child.
2. The caregiver should always respond when a child is attempting to smile to show happiness. The adult should continue to speak directly to the infant in a positive manner to reflect the joy the child is expressing.
3. The caregiver should continue to make numerous attempts to get the infant to smile during happy times. |
| This Experience correlates to Developmental Guideline: EL6: Expresses Happiness. |
