An Activity for Preschoolers |
| Every child enjoys being the center of attention! This language activity provides an opportunity for just that, and it encourages children to think about their activities at the end of the day! | |
To describe with words and movements an event or experience of the day.
To follow simple directions using chants and memory. |
| | |
Form a circle with the children, with one child ("Punchinello") in the center.
1. Have the children in the circle chant:
What can you do, Punchinello, funny fellow? What can you do, Punchinello, funny you?
2. The child in the center then chooses something she experienced during the day (e.g., painting at the easel, hopping, building with blocks, etc.) to describe and demonstrate, at which point the children around the circle chant:
We can do it, too, Punchinello, funny fellow. We can do it, too, Punchinello, funny you.
3. The children then mimic "Punchinello's" words and actions. Make sure each child has a turn to be Punchinello.
| Substitute the child's name for Punchinello to make him feel really special! |
| | |
