Activity: Clap the Sound
Materials Needed:
Word cards for the teacher (optional)
Let’s Get Started:
1. This activity gives the child an opportunity to think about how many sounds are in individual words.
2. Say the word and then divide the word into sounds; for example, "Stop." Then divide the word into parts by saying, /s/-/t/-/o/-/p/.
3. Have the children repeat the sounds and clap with each sound.
4. Repeat the activity with additional words.
