Activity: Tube Patterns
Materials Needed:
A large quantity of empty toilet tissue tubes (can be donated by the children)
Several colors of tempera or BioColor® paint
Brushes
Yard stick or dowel
Let’s Get Started:
1. Have a painting day where the children have the opportunity to paint the outsides of all of the toilet tissue tubes. Make sure there is some of each color.
2. Allow the tubes to thoroughly dry.
3. Have the children thread the tubes on the yardstick or dowel to create a repeating pattern.
NOTE: Use these tubes later in the year when the children have more advanced skills. Have the children paint stripes, spots or other designs on the painted tubes then repeat the activity.
